The Hive god of lies has been a focus in Destiny 2's narrative for a while, shaping up to become the primary antagonist. Before Season of the Lost, the closest players ever got to interacting with her directly was during the Expunge Activities in Season of the Splicer. Savathûn, the Witch Queen, is a powerful Hive god known for her scheming and nefarious plans. Savathûn infiltrated the Tower and has now backed the Vanguard into a corner by assuming Osiris' form for some time. Osiris' actual location remains a mystery, but Guardians have a new priority to attend. Instead, Guardians inadvertently let the Hive god of lies into their midsts. Now, in Season of the Lost, players have learned that they haven't been interacting with Osiris at all. Even with all information pointing toward collaboration between the Future War Cult leader and the legendary Warlock, some can't accept Osiris' betrayal. Osiris is revered as a hero by many and is even closer to others, like Saint-14. The Vanguard doesn't understand Osiris' intentions and hopes that they've misunderstood some piece of evidence. During the final moments of the previous season, Season of the Splicer, Lakshmi-2 and Osiris conspire to open a Vex gateway in The Last City, endangering both its new Eliksni inhabitants and long-time residents.
